About

This site is a compilation of the lives of the Saints who adorn our Catholic Church and serve as an inspiration to all who read about them. I call it St. Scholastica’s Portal because her life and that of her brother, St. Benedict, show how heaven perfected their earthly relationship so that they fully became brother and sister in Christ. Would that all earthly relationships so evolve and ripen. I also confess a great fondness for the name “Scholastica” because it means “scholarly.” St. Scholastica is the patron saint of education and the lion’s share of my real education has come, directly or indirectly, from Catholic sources. May all who read what is posted here be edified, motivated to ask questions or comment, and proceed to lead better lives!
